The last week of February gave us the first hint of summer warmth, but it wasn’t just the sunshine raising the mercury in the showroom… We have no less than eight exceptional Pagodas, hot property in the classic car world. All of these cars are featured in the video below, so here’s a rundown of the cars on show, in the order that they appear:
1968 Mercedes-Benz 280SL in Grey Blue with Black – SOLD
This beautiful and rare car has been prepared ready for collection, sitting in pride of place in the showroom ready for the new owner. We wish him all the best in his Pagoda adventure!
1964 Mercedes-Benz 230SL in Silver Grey with Red – Left Hand Drive
One of the finest 230SLs we have come across in recent years, this lovely Pagoda was purchased by the current keeper ‘blind’ in a classic car auction. Unsure of the car, it was sent away for an independent assessment and found to be a very high calibre car indeed. It has since been used and enjoyed sparingly, and is now ready for a new home.
1965 Mercedes-Benz 230SL in Midnight Blue with Beige – Left Hand Drive
Coming from a small collection in Malta, this delightful 230SL looks superb in the dark shade of Metallic Blue. Complimented by the light interior, it is a rather inviting car to drive. Prior to taking it’s place in the showroom SLSHOP have spent a great deal of time bringing the underside to our standard, with a small amount of metalwork and new rear floor pans fitted before the entire underneath of the car has been treated to protect it for the future. Another lovely Pagoda read for many more years enjoyment.
1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL in Silver Grey with Black – Unrestored and Original
With the youngest Pagoda now more than 50 years old, it is very rare indeed that we find a car like this. Showing just 13,000 miles from new, this unrestored Pagoda is as close to factory original as it is possible to get. Exceptional in every way.
1968 Mercedes-Benz 280SL in Silver with Blue – Superb older restoration
This restored 280SL underwent a comprehensive nut and bolt restoration around 15 years ago, but one would never know when inspecting it. The work has been done to a very high standard, something the current owner is very proud of – it has attended a great deal of local shows, even winning the ‘Best Pagoda’ award at SL Sunday in 2017. A truly lovely 280SL.
1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL in Signal Red with Beige – California Edition
Here is a very unusual car, a rare California edition with a rear bench seat instead of a soft top. Out of the three variants of the Pagoda, (230, 250 and 280), the 250SL is by far the least numerous. The fact that this car is a UK delivered California further increases the rarity, making this a truly one of a kind Pagoda.
