MERCEDES R107 DRY ICE ENGINE & UNDERCARRIAGE CLEANING
Your R107 engine bay has not been thoroughly cleaned since it was originally placed in situ back at the Mercedes-Benz factory. With time, usage and exposure to the elements, your engine bay will become contaminated with an array of different detrimental substances that will both degrade components, also impeding inspection of your engine.
WHAT IS DRY ICE BLASTING?
This process involves the use of solid dry ice (a form of carbon dioxide standing at minus-110 degrees F) which is passed through a pressurised hose at a very high-rate to remove surface contaminants from focus areas within your engine bay. The same process can be applied to any metal surface of your vehicle.
HOW DOES IT WORK AND WHY IS IT DIFFERENT?
Dry Ice Blasting is a better alternative to sandblasting for a number of reasons.
- The carbon dioxide particles sublimate, meaning that they turn from solid to gas when hitting the surface, without first becoming a liquid.
- It’s not impact that causes debris to be removed, but the magical gas that removes the debris, dirt and rust.
- Unlike sandblasting which involves friction in the form a chiselling effect, Dry Ice Blasting relies on the particles and can be applied on any surface, even painted metal without any detriment to the paintwork.
