MERCEDES W113 UNDERBODY CHECK
Whether you’ve recently acquired a Pagoda online, at auction, or have owned the vehicle for many years, we encourage you to have the undercarriage of your Pagoda inspected at regular intervals. This ensures that you have complete understanding of the condition of your vehicle, particularly where structural safety features are concerned.
Our Underbody inspection is carried out by our award-winning craftsmen who focus on both bodywork and components to establish the presence of corrosion and the extent to which it is affecting your vehicle.
WHAT ASPECTS OF YOUR PAGODA DO WE LOOK AT?
Utilising our Heritage Workshop, our Craftsmen inspect key components such as the suspension system, lower control arms, exhaust, brake discs and lines, fuel lines and supporting joints. Most common for corrosion are the suspension springs. Once our team have highlighted any areas of surface corrosion to components, focus is shifted to the bodywork itself.
Across a Pagoda’s body are a series of drainage holes – most of which are less obvious to the eye. Our knowledge of the location of these drainage holes enables us to establish whether previous repairs have been carried out and whether severe corrosion may exist.
KEY AREAS OF FOCUS:
Rear Chassis Legs: are most common for corrosion issues, with the drainage holes running through to the sills. Where vehicles have been repaired poorly, these small drainage holes are blocked up, causing corrosion to develop and infect the inner and outer sills. This will then further infect the floor pans which will need attention.
The Deck Lid: features small drainage holes that may have been incorrectly repaired/changed or become blocked over time; causing water to collect beneath the seat base. From beneath the car, surface rust around the seat box could indicate blocked deck lid drains.
This is just a snapshot of areas that will be inspected as part of our underbody check. The key thing to remember is that most areas are interlinked, which is why we take a holistic approach to your Pagoda.
WHAT DOES A STRUCTURAL CHECK DO FOR ME AND MY PAGODA?
Your Pagoda is a prized asset. Having the underbody inspected on a two-yearly basis acts as a preventative measure to keep your Pagoda in dependable order. Similarly, this inspection allows you to determine what (if any) improvements need to be made to keep it on the road or allow you to obtain the highest possible value should you decide to sell it.
