Owning a classic car can be a daunting experience. You may find yourself asking, who do I take my car to? Can I trust them? Do they possess the knowledge to deal with the car? Are they too expensive? Are they recognised as a reputable Mercedes specialist? Will the work protect the value of my car?
All these questions are hard to determine answers to when researching on the internet, and often, word of mouth tends to be the biggest influence for classic Mercedes owners. It can also be tempting to assume that modern dealers still retain the knowledge and understanding of classic Mercedes, but this can often lead to disappointment due to several factors ranging from technical knowledge, access to Parts and their sheer desire to support classic owners.
So, what should you look for in a Mercedes Specialist?
As restorers of a variety of classic Mercedes models, we’ve gained international acclaim for the preservation and improvement of 190SLs, W113 Pagodas and R107 SLs. Innate to all our restoration work is our desire to offer customers the car they’ve always dreamed of owning – a car that they can use for trips and tours with confidence in its mechanical and monetary value.
This commitment to the legacy of classic Mercedes SLs has been endorsed by Mercedes-Benz themselves, who selected a SLSHOP restored Signal Red R107 300SL to be displayed in the foyer of Mercedes-Benz World to commemorate 50 years of the model.t
Our very own Mercedes specialist, Bruce Greetham, also received a concours award for his complete R107 500SL restoration, and more recently David Sutherland, editor of Classic Mercedes Magazine, announced to the international community, ‘’I’ve driven possibly the best Pagoda I’ve ever come across by Mercedes specialist, SLSHOP.’’
