21/06/2022, Stratford-Upon-Avon: SLSHOP has announced the expansion of their 50,000 sq. Ft and 60 strong team to pave way for a new in-house trim team at their head office in Warwickshire. The new trim shop at SLSHOP builds upon the company’s already impressive suite of restoration services which comprise of fabrication, paintwork, engine rebuild, setup and testing, as well as race and rally preparation.
The new setup will add another layer of personalisation to the company’s already impressive array of bespoke operations, allowing classic and modern classic Mercedes-Benz owners to work directly with the restoration team to design and finalise their dream interior configuration.
The team will be based on-site with their own dedicated building, offering full and partial retrims of seats, carpets, deck lids, soft top hoods, dashboard toppers and more. Available on site via the company’s leading Parts Store are an array of original MB Tex and period correct leathers, as well as more contemporary materials such as Alcantara as found on the company’s bespoke SportLine builds.
The company’s Founder and Managing Director, Sam Bailey, commented by saying ‘’I’m delighted to welcome the new trim team who possess forty years’ experience and at a time when we’re seeing record values for fully restored SLs. This new in-house service is the next stage in our restoration offering and allows us to maintain and build upon the personal approach we have always taken to. With the lead time for our bespoke Pagoda and SportLine restorations getting longer, the addition of the trim team will help us hand over the keys to the owners more promptly and with confidence their vision has been realised.’’
SLSHOP are renowned for their craftsmanship, receiving high praise from Classic Cars Magazine’s and Mercedes Enthusiast, with the latter exclaiming ”I’ve driven possibly the best Mercedes pagoda I’ve ever come across, a late 280 SL restored by SLSHOP.” The new trim shop raises the British craftsmanship flag higher, enabling owners to further customise their interiors and create something entirely original or with more contemporary attributes.
