It’s been over two years since we last welcomed owners onto our site and we’re delighted to be able to open our doors to you on three separate dates this year. Over the course of the Spring, Summer and Autumn, we will allow owners and enthusiast to join us for a day of all things classic Mercedes, with refreshments, project and market talks, race car demonstrations and more. This is your chance to tune your mind with your machine and glide all the way down to Stratford-upon-Avon. This is an opportunity for you to Drive More. Do More. See More.
What can you expect from our March Open Day?
Saturday 19th March, 10:00 – 15:00pm, Stratford-upon-Avon
THE CLASSIC MERCEDES MARKET – A DISCUSSION WITH SLSHOP DIRECTORS
The questions owners often have – and quite rightly – is how strong is their investment in the current market versus when they purchased? Similarly, what are we expecting from market values over the coming few years? These are questions that are commonly asked directly to our staff; so, to ensure you get all the answers you need we’d like to invite you for a 30-minute Q&A session with SLSHOP’s directors. The 30-minute session will cover the heritage, specialist and modern classic models we are renowned for preserving.
MEET THE MINDS BEHIND THE MACHINES
Our Workshops are made up of craftsmen specialising in models ranging from the fifties through to the millennium. These individuals are unique, possessing skills and knowledge not associated with the modern world – their commitment and passion to these vehicles is unrivalled. This is your opportunity to meet the minds behind the machines. From our in-house gearbox expert Paul to Dan who rebuilds W113 Pagoda engines, and Callum who supports the array of modern classics around the world. Each craftsman will be available for you to indulge in hours of petrolhead chatter.
LIVE ENGINE BUILD AND TALK
Meet the talented individuals who inspect, strip and rebuild Heritage engines across the fifties ad sixties Mercedes-Benz model range. You’ll hear from the experts as to how we transform a seventy year engine into a work of art, capable of cruising for mile after mile and competing with modern vehicles. Those with technical interest can ask questions and find exactly what to expect from our engine rebuild service and SportLine performance upgrades.
COMPETITIONS
Car of the Day: Those of you that attended our last open day recall the fight for a place at the top of the leader board, as we assessed the most cared for and charismatic car. This year we have drafted in concours winner, Barry Sidwell, to assess the perfect car of the day. Make sure you polish every possible nut and bolt, Barry is meticulous. The winner will receive a prize on the day for their efforts!
Best Photo: We’ll be awarding a prize to the best social media post – your challenge is to capture the scale of SLSHOP’s premises in one photo or video. Double points will be given to those who come up with the most interesting caption.
SLSHOP DEVELOPMENTS
Guests of our open day will be the first to hear about two exciting new initiatives we are launching – SLSHOP MarketPlace and SLSHOP Membership. All details will be revealed on the day, with announcements in national press and on our website and social media channels to follow. You’ll be the first to know and the first to take advantage of these exciting new initiatives.
SPORTLINE EXPERIENCE – SLSHOP HILL CLIMB
The SportLine experience returns with the opportunity for attendees to enjoy a blast down our private driveway in one of our two classic Mercedes race cars. The charming but raw Ponton race car and our SportLine R107 race car will be driven by members of our experienced while you cling on from the passenger’s seat. We advise you eat after your hill climb experience…
10% OFF PARTS FOR YOUR VEHICLES:
Owners who join us for the day will be entitled to 10% off any parts purchased on the day, with the opportunity to meet the minds who often support you over the telephone and email. Our sales team will be on hand to discuss your parts needs for everything from servicing and restoration work to general tinkering. Our apprentices will also be offering guidance on the fitment of a selection of parts.
FUEL YOUR BODY WHILE WE FUEL YOUR MIND
Guests will be able to purchase a variety of refreshments from a selection of local businesses, including alcohol courtesy of Purity Beer and the Shakespeare Gin company, hot and cold drinks and food.
