Here at SLSHOP we take great pride in offering a wide variety of cars and colours from our Stratford-Upon-Avon showroom. We work diligently to ensure the range is always diverse, and that no two cars are the same. With 5 Signal Red cars currently available in the showroom, it would be easy to miss the important distinctions between each car. So with 5 cars exactly the same, how are they completely different? Let’s take a look.
Exactly The Same but Completely Different:
Number 1: 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300SL – Signal Red with Beige Fabric
The first of two Signal Red cars we currently offer with elegant Sport Check interior, this 1989 car benefits from a significant recent spend. With the outside air temperature gauge and rear seats, this is a very nicely specified 300SL. What we really like about this one is the fact that every year for the last decade it has attended Mercedes-Benz of Teeside for a visual health check and MOT. It shows 61,000 miles, evenly shared across the almost 31 year lifespan – a sign of a well cared for and consistently used classic car.

Number 2: 1988 Mercedes-Benz 300SL – Signal Red with Black Fabric
Whilst the second of our two ‘Sports Check’ cars might not have a full options list, it makes up for that with the odometer reading… just 29,000 miles. Even though it has incredibly low mileage, it boasts 9 service stamps with a further 8 services documented within the paperwork. A superbly cared for car that’s just lovely.

Number 3: 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300SL – Signal Red with Beige Leather
Upping the ante somewhat in terms of specification, this 56,000 mile 300SL has a number of desirable cost options. With leather heated seats, outside temperature gauge, rear seating and headlamp wash wipe, it would have been an incredibly expensive car back in 1989. Serviced predominately by one dealer for the bulk of it’s life, this car first arrived at SLSHOP back in 2012 and has been on our radar ever since. Another truly beautiful SL… The question is, would you choose it over the others on the page?

Number 4: 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300SL LHD – Signal Red with Beige Leather
Eagle eyed readers will have noticed that the steering wheel on this car is fitted to the wrong side… unless of course this one is correct and the others on the page are wrong. Whichever way you see it, this Swedish ordered 300SL is really rather special.
The first thing to notice upon climbing into the cabin is the gearstick. Fitted with a 5-speed manual gearbox from new, this car also enjoys quite a selection of options from the brochure. With heated seats, air conditioning, outside air temperature gauge, automatic antenna, central arm rest, airbag and Becker Europa cassette player, it might just be the highest specification R107 SL we have seen. That gearbox option certainly makes it one of the most unusual. We believe this car was purchased new by a passionate automotive enthusiast, to be a true drivers car to be enjoyed. Are you the next spirited driver to care for this exciting SL?

Number 5: 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300SL SportLine – Signal Red with Beige Leather
We have shown you four superb cars and teased one with a manual gearbox, which leads us nicely to the car shown here… the ultimate R107 SL. The SportLine was developed by SLSHOP to be the SL that Mercedes-Benz never made. With improved throttle response, more power, purpose built suspension and a custom interior, it really is a sight to behold. The way this car goes down the road simply has to be believed… SLSHOP really did create a completely different SL with the SportLine, a drivers car with all the style and sophistication that the R107 has to offer. Truly superb.
