At SLSHOP, one of our many passions is the Mercedes-Benz SL Pagoda, and finding the most elusive and obscure parts is an obsession for Paul and the team in the parts department. When an opportunity arose to purchase a once in a lifetime haul of rare Pagoda parts, we simply had to act.
Since the articulated lorries arrived from Holland back un the UK, our team have been diligently cataloging the parts and making them available to our international customer base. The huge amount of parts caused quite a stir amongst the international community of enthusiasts, as well as the team here at SLSHOP… Jack and Paul, who have been working in the parts department since the very early days of SLSHOP, were seeing some of these components for the very first time. We asked Jack to choose two of his favourites, based on his experience of the Pagoda and the importance of the find.
VDO Quartz Zeit Clock for the Mercedes Pagoda
Proudly sat in the centre of every Pagoda dashboard is the elegant Quartz clock, but finding a replacement original has been all but impossible in recent years. Imitations have been available, but for many of our customers, originality is of the utmost importance. This genuine original Mercedes-Benz SL Pagoda timepiece should not be confused with modern replacements – there can be no substitute for a genuine old stock item. Find it in our parts store here.
Ignition Distributor Cap Dust Cover for Mercedes-Benz SL Pagoda
This is a superb example of a simple and in some ways insignificant part that can make all the difference. This dust cover would have been in place over the distributor cap and HT leads when it left the factory. During routine servicing and maintenance these often go missing, never to be replaced again. For many years they have been completely unobtainable, much to the frustration of customers who own and are building concours grade Mercedes-Benz SL Pagodas. This simple part is now available – but be quick, we only have 4 of them and don’t anticipate finding a haul like this any time soon. This might be your only opportunity to buy this elusive part.
