Here at SLSHOP we take pride in being World’s leading Classic Mercedes-Benz SL specialist. Our reputation does give us access to some of the finest cars from around the world. Last year we posted an article titled ‘The Very Definition Of Low Mileage‘, where we showcased a 300SL and 420SL from 1989 that now have a combined odometer reading of less than 3,500 miles.
For this second instalment we are proud to present three exceptional vehicles. These three cars represent ‘best in breed’ quality, spanning three generations of SL and boasting a combined age of 110 years. The combined total of all three odometers? Just 21,000 miles.
The 1969 Mercedes-Benz Pagoda is a car that was sold by us in recent years, a truly superb find, all original with just 13,000 miles from new.
The 1989 Mercedes-Benz 500SL is another unique car with it’s own special story. It was ordered in 1989 but just before signing on the dottted line, the first owner instead drove away in a then brand-new R129… leaving this car unregistered until 1992. It now shows just 6,500 miles. We recently sourced this car for a customer, but you can still take a look in our showroom.
Completing the series is the 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500SL R129, exceptional for a number of reasons. The odometer shows just 2,800 miles, but the really interesting clue in the history of this car is one little code within the datacard – it shows evidence of an inter-department transfer at Mercedes-Benz themselves. The best thing about this car? It could be yours.
If you would like to discuss a low mileage Mercedes-Benz SL, please contact Bruce directly. We are always keen to talk about exceptional cars.
