1988 Merecedes R107 300SL

This Mercedes-Benz 300SL is a handsome example of a sophisticated open-top modern classic, which presents very well for its age. It is powered by a 3.0-litre naturally aspirated inline-six cylinder engine, producing up to 187bhp, which sends power to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.

This 300 SL was specified from the factory in attractive light Ivory paintwork, over beige upholstery with check-pattern cloth inserts. The dash and centre console are adorned with smart with burr walnut veneer trims.

It rides on a set of 16-inch ‘flat face’ alloy wheels, which are with Dunlop tyres that have done less that 160 miles.

Factory equipment on this car includes electric windows and the original body-coloured hardtop roof. It was also has SL Shop rear seats fitted.

There is no known prior bodywork damage. The Light Ivory paintwork is in good condition, the car had a new front wing due to paintwork bubbling on the original, at which time the underside and sills were refreshed and repainted and new jacking points were installed by locally renowned body work specialist Chris Brown Body Repairs in Downham Market. The car’s black soft top is in good order and 100% waterproof. The Dunlop tyres are all as new with fewer than 160 miles of wear. Inside, the cabin presents remarkably well for the mileage, with some light creasing on the beige vinyl, but no major wear. There are no known faults with the car, and no warning lights on the dashboard. The most recent MOT test took place on 3 August 2021 at 132,108 miles.

The latest service was carried out during August 2021 at 132,108 miles by Smithee and Son Limited. The work comprised of a full 50-point major service. New tyres were also fitted at this time. Prior to this, the car received full 50-point major services at Smithee and Son Limited during July 2020 at 131,936 miles. There are various other stamps and receipts for past services.
