A fine example of the revered and rare V8 Mercedes 420SL in a rare and iconic colourway of Black Metallic on Black Leather. Emerging from the custody of long-term owner who acquired the vehicle in 1990 when it was just four years old, this 420SL has lived a rich life of usage but an equal (if not more) amount of dedication and maintenance. Ordered new in Blue-Black Metallic (199) in 1986, this R107 420SL benefits from a range of optional extras including an outside temperature gauge, Cruise Control, rear seats, limited slip differential, as well as standard options such as electric windows, heat rear-window pane and a passenger-side electrically adjustable mirror. The additional options give this 420SL modern traits that enable the driver to this classic car in comfort and akin to modern standards.

EXTERIOR:

The paintwork is in fantastic condition, without any signs of blemishing or corrosion. All chrome items are straight with little signs of tarnishing around the vehicle. All four wheels are well presented, with the centre caps present and four ready-to-go tyres period-correct fitted. The Black Soft Top is in good condition for its age, particularly given it is original.

INTERIOR:

Inside the Black leather has been carefully maintained, with the quality and sturdiness of the material evident. All carpets are clean and absent of any stains or rips. Similarly, the dashboard and flanking wood strips is still rich in hue. The same can be said of the centre console where you will find period correct controls still with their factory markings.

WORKS CARRIED OUT BY SLSHOP:

As part of our sales process, we have carried out a variety of rectification work to prepare the vehicle for the new owner. This includes the fitment of new deck seals, rectifying a delayed kickdown and carrying out a gearbox service, replacing front subframe bushes and servicing the power steering system.
