1985 Mercedes Benz R107 280SL with Beige Fabric (075)

This exceptional Mercedes-Benz 280SL was first registered in August 1985, after it was bought new from Bargate Motors in Boston, Lincolnshire. Two years later at the end of June 1987, the owner and the car moved to the Isle of Man… Where the car would stay until the owner passed away in 2003. Whilst on the Isle of Man, the car was always garaged and used sparingly - it never left the island and was only used on the occasional weekend or sunny day trip. In 2003 the car was inherited by the first owner’s daughter, with the mileage showing just 5,000. The daughter would keep the car for a further 13 years, adding just 1,000 miles in that time. It was serviced by a Mercedes-Benz specialist on the island, according to correspondence within the history file. In 2017 the car found its way to a classic car specialist to be sold on behalf of the daughter. As part of this process it was repatriated to the DVLA and assigned the registration plate C606UDO on 14th June 2017. Since 2017 the car has resided under careful ownership in West Sussex, and we are proud to offer what has to be the very best 280SL in existence. Although the service book only shows one stamp dated from 1996, the history file tells the story of a well cared for car that has seen very little road use. With its history, mileage, condition and colour combination, we have to attest this to be the best 280SL available. There are perhaps a handful of R107 examples with verified mileage below 10,000, and not another 280SL of which we are aware. Simply beautiful.
