A 1966 230SL, this Pagoda’s in fine mechanical condition and proudly wears a fine patina of its near six decades of use. That presents a great opportunity for its next owner to buy it and continue to use it and enjoy it just as it is, or to titivate it and add value as part of the ownership process. Whatever route you decide, it’s a great value proposition, and looks fantastic in its dark blue paintwork.

Condition Synopsis:

We’ve certainly got more polished, cleaner examples in our showroom here, but that’s not to take away from the overall fine condition of this car. It unashamedly exhibits its use, this clearly a car that’s been cared for, but also driven and enjoyed. The light interior shows some evidence of use, there’s a patch repair in the blue fabric hood (the hardtop is in fine condition), but the bodywork’s straight and the mechanicals are all in order, this being a driver, rather than a collector’s piece, and we’re rather fond of that here.

History File:

The original handbook, several folders worth of receipts and invoices, a good number being SLSHOP ones, underline that this Pagoda’s been looked after. It’s the other bits and pieces that come in the file that demonstrate previous owners have cared; there’s a workshop manual containing all the options codes, parts catalogues and more. Digging through the paperwork also highlights it’s lived in Germany, as well as Malta, this a car that’s lived a life then, but that’s the point, right…

You could comfortably pay double for one of the other Pagodas we have in stock, pop it in your garage and be afraid to use it properly. Or you could buy this one and just enjoy it as it is, perhaps spending a bit of time, and not much money, between summers to tidy it up as you like. An honest, cared for Pagoda which oozes style with its dark blue and contrasting cream interior, this one won’t be with us long.
