A late-model R129 SL320 finished in Azurite Blue Metallic with a Saffron Nappa Leather interior. Having covered just under 69,700 miles since its registration in 2000, it’s had five previous owners, one particularly noteworthy as the UK AMG Marketing Director – who bought it sight unseen in 2013. That tells you all you need to know about this car, which presents perfectly, it being immaculate back then and benefitting from meticulous care since to maintain that condition. The current owner acquired it from the SLSHOP in 2021, after the previous owner reluctantly sold it before relocating to Germany. Having enjoyed over 3000 miles of motoring since it’s now time for its next custodian to drive and appreciate.

Condition Synopsis:

Initially acquired by a company for its MD, this SL320 has lived a charmed life, with every one of its subsequent owners having maintained it so that it looks and feels every bit as fresh as it would have when it was picked up nearly a quarter of a century ago. The Azurite Blue Metallic paint looks sensational, with the contrasting Saffron Nappa Leather far from betraying the near 70,000 miles that the odometer tells us this car has covered. That previous UK AMG Marketing Director owner took it over to Germany back to Mercedes-Benz Niederlassung (Company-Owner Dealership) and had them go through it, preventatively and pre-emptively changing all fluids, replacing all pipes, plugs, cables and more prior to taking it on a tour around Europe. Business took them back to Germany, with the SLSHOP handling the sale of the car. Since then, it’s been Waxoyled, and maintained here, and is in perfect condition to be enjoyed for this summer, and beyond.

History File:

A thick sheaf of paperwork outlining its care comes with this SL320, including the aforementioned, German, paperwork outlining the bumper-to-bumper refresh back in its homeland. There’s a file for Mercedes-Benz Club membership, those invested enough in the brand to join clubs being the best owners... There’s also a Bulkhead Certificate, from us, when the car was inspected back in 2021, that, and car’s plentiful paperwork demonstrative of its excellent condition. Among the details is a note saying it’s not been in the wet since 2014, indeed, the only time the tyres have had water under them is when it’s been washed (and, evidently, when our photos were taken), even so, there’s receipts for things like replacement wiper blades, this a car that’s been very carefully looked after.

You don’t need to check through the wad of receipts or explore its excellent provenance to realise that this is a R129 SL320 that’s not just a desirable specification – electric heated seats, that appealing dark blue and contrasting Nappa leather interior – to realise that this is a very appealing example. These cars drive beautifully, too, the 3.2-litre V6 is smooth and brisk, the automatic transmission working beautifully with it, these creating a capable touring car that’s also fun when the roads get more interesting. The SLSHOP has sold it previously, and maintained it since, this late-model SL320 being testament to its meticulous care, and it represents a fantastic opportunity for its next to enjoy inexpensive entry to SL ownership and enjoyment.
