Interestingly there is a 260 code within the build sheet for ‘deletion of type designation on boot lid’, although at some point in the history of the car the 300SL moniker has reappeared – whether the next owner removes it will be down to them.
Accompanying this car is a fantastic history file, including documentation and a magazine cutting. This car was displayed in Mercedes-Benz of Bristol’s showroom for 3 months as the same technician stamped the original PDI in 1989 and the service book in 2008!
The car has an aftermarket alarm system which was fitted in 2009.
It is a real pleasure to find the original correspondance from 1988 between the sales person and first owner of the car. Also present is the original vehicle invoice, stating the options of Cruise Control, Rear Child Seats and Leather Seating, as well as Metallic Paint, giving a total On The Road Price of £36,500, giving it an equivalent price of £ 100,999.92 in today’s money.
Every service invoice and receipt appears to be present from the day the car was new. This car is only 1 previous owner, always serviced by Mercedes-Benz main dealers until 2019.
