An R107 SL in any form is a capable car, a long distance cruiser more than comfortable enduring mile after mile of open road. Finding these cars with low mileage and few owners is something we enjoy, and this car is rather special.
Ordered new from Mercedes-Benz Greyfords, London in July 1987, this Nautical Blue Metallic car was destined for a cosseted
life. The owner had an established chain of pharmacies in and around London, and intended to use this car for occasional family transport and outings.
In 1994 ownership transferred from the original buyer to his son, with whom it would stay until this year.
Between 1987 and 1998 the car covered just 37,000 miles, with 11 stamps in the service book including the pre-delivery inspection stamp dated 21st July 1987.
Throughout the 2000s this car was driven very sparingly, often covering less than 100 miles per year; being cared for and driven for each MoT before returning to the garage.
From 2013 the car went into longer term storage, being retrieved in 2019 whereupon a recommissioning process was begun, including an overhaul of the engine, gearbox, metering head and fuel pump.
Further work was undertaken in 2021 with a view to restoring the car ready for a new owner. This car was subject to a significant minor restoration of the cosmetics and mechanicals and is now ready for sale.
Nautical Blue with Cream has to be one of those iconic R107 colour combinations, the sort of colour that suits the car just perfectly. The contrast between the blue paintwork and interior gives the car a luxurious feel, a contributing factor that makes this colour so popular with buyers.
From new this car was specified with some desirable options, not just the metallic paint.
The airbag would have added some £1,200 whilst the rear child seats were another £400. In total the ‘new’ price would have been £34,972, or £92,240 today.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire the iconic 300SL in a fantastic colour combination, a car that benefits from significant recent spend and comes from a long term and loving home.
A car that is looking for a new chapter of ownership, ready to be enjoyed and displayed in equal measure.

I have followed SLSHOP with interest for some years now and recently took the plunge and purchased my dream car – they did not disappoint!
The whole experience from start to finish was superb. Their communication was excellent and they kept me
informed every step of the way. Thank you and I look forward to my next purchase!

I have just purchased a 280SL from SLSHOP. I have already purchased several parts from SLSHOP and have found all members of staff most helpful and it is more like dealing with a club than a commercial enterprise I would highly recommend using SLSHOP for cars, parts and most importantly impartial advice.

They put up with my indecision, inexperience and last minute demands and my car is the best thing I’ve ever bought. The most impressive thing about them is the after care though. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they’ve given me the best advice to make sure I get the most out of my car. Can you tell I’m obsessed with them all?
