1971 Mercedes-Benz W113 280SL with Red Leather

Silver with Red Leather / 280SL

Reserved

Principal Facts:

Low-mile, left-hand drive manual 280SL with plenty of history from its native Czech Republic and, more recently, from the UK; including several visits to our workshops. This Pagoda has a rare mix of silver exterior paint with a red soft top, it’s a striking combo that works well and compliments the car’s vibrant red interior.

Condition Synopsis:

The car has been repainted at some point in the past and retains a superb finish. The interior seems just as fresh, with a scoot underneath showing good floors and sills too. Mechanically, this W113 has been treated to some substantial expenditure in recent years with a heap of invoices from its time in the Czech Republic showing constant and considerable expense for many more years prior.

History File:

What we can decipher from the back catalogue of invoices are a large number of Mercedes-Benz Prague bills. There are also all the original owner's manuals and a Haynes repair book (in English). Bills from our shores show a large amount spent at Roger Edwards in Amersham in 2013. A distributor and tune cost £1387. 80, axle top mount, brake pads, tyres, a steering damper, front shocks and a full service was also carried out at £4034. 04. A clutch hose and thrust washer, prop coupling and front calliper seal were added for £1048. 96 while rear springs, seat belts and various fittings were also swapped to the tune of £1532. 22. A handbrake cable and v-belts, plus a full service, saw a final bill in 2013 for £410. 85. Once we took over the car's care from 2020, we set about replacing the rubber hoses around the injection pump. The engine mounts and coolant hoses were also swapped at the same time with a coolant flush the same year. A new brake servo was added, along with remedial work to replace missing or incorrect parts, at a cost of £5018. 90. Once again in our workshops in April 2021, the bonnet was repaired and painted for £1500. July 2021 saw us replace the hard-top seals, secure the brake bias valve and give the car a B service at £1130. 50. Most recently, in December 2021, we removed, adjusted and refitted the steering box and while we were at it, also fitted a new tie-rod assembly with a further bill of £1070. 81.

SLSHOP Summary:

This left-hand drive Pagoda has seen substantial care in the past few years both by us and at other UK specialists. Beyond this, there's a wealth of history from Czech Mercedes-Benz dealers and specialists, plus the original owner documentation, including the original build sheet. This therefore represents a rare opportunity to acquire a manual 280SL in a vibrant colour combo, ready to enjoy both within our shores or further afield.

INDUSTRY TRUSTED

I have followed SLSHOP with interest for some years now and recently took the plunge and purchased my dream car – they did not disappoint!
The whole experience from start to finish was superb. Their communication was excellent and they kept me
informed every step of the way. Thank you and I look forward to my next purchase!

I have just purchased a 280SL from SLSHOP. I have already purchased several parts from SLSHOP and have found all members of staff most helpful and it is more like dealing with a club than a commercial enterprise I would highly recommend using SLSHOP for cars, parts and most importantly impartial advice.

They put up with my indecision, inexperience and last minute demands and my car is the best thing I’ve ever bought. The most impressive thing about them is the after care though. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they’ve given me the best advice to make sure I get the most out of my car. Can you tell I’m obsessed with them all?
