1972 Mercedes Benz R107 450SL with 350SL Factory Badge

THIS ONE IS FOR A COLLECTOR…such a special car.
SUPER early R107 vin number 40.
To my knowledge, this is the single earliest production R107sl for sale worldwide. If you are familiar with R107 Mercedes, you know the first US cars were shipped over with the 350sl badge, but they have the bigger 450sl motor. US Mercedes dealers offered to update the badge to 450sl, but this one retains the original 350sl factory badge. Other telltale signs of the very earliest cars are the chrome gear selection bezel, teardrop shaped lights under the front bumper, and the solid chrome grill star. If you are not a collector and do not value the exceptionally early production number, this is not the car for you.

Beautiful car that deserves a full restoration. Original interior is amazing! I have not even detailed it. The dash has no cracks.  Engine has new plugs and wires. I tested, and it ran with starter fluid. Old gas tank has been removed to replace with new one. New tank comes with car. I can't finish the project, so it is time to sell this rare SL as is...send a trailer to pick her up. Solid floors and trunk.  The body is straight. It does have some rust as you can see in the pictures. Top front of wing on US passenger side. It has been repainted in the past.

This very early SL was actually produced in June of 1971, and was one of the very first R107 SL's to arrive in the United States. It was imported to the Pacific Northwest, Unites States. I found the car in Washington state 3 years ago and brought it to Texas. The previous owners had donated the car to The Make a Wish Foundation, a charity that helps fulfill the wishes of children with a critical illness between the ages of 2½ and 18 years old.
