1986 Mercedes R107 420SL

Following an extensive restoration this 420SL is now offered to the market. One of just over 2,000 of this facelift model produced, making this one of the rarer V8 options. Over£16,000 has been spent on all new paintwork, interior and engine overhaul. It looks and drives like a 50,000 mile car.

A new MOT with zero advisories was issued in August 2022.

The exterior is in excellent condition having had new paintwork, new bumpers , frames & rubbers. The interior is excellent having brand new carpets throughout including the boot, the leather seats have been restored and are soft and comfortable. The wooden panels have been restored, the instruments refurbished  and new speakers fitted. The seals have been replaced for the boot, soft top cover, doors and hard top. The soft top is black and in excellent condition with no rips or tears. New cables have been fitted  and the plastic windows are clear. The hard top is in very good condition with good chromes and new seals. The bulkhead has been inspected and any surface rust removed, repainted and Dynax protected.    

The car was recommissioned in 2021 having the fuel distributor replaced before a full overhaul of the engine including new timing chain, tensioner, guides, oiler tube fittings and valve stem oils seals were replaced. A full service was carried out with all new fluids, brakes checked .  The headlamp wipers were restored to full working order and the steering play and geometry was adjusted. The bulkhead was opened and restored before repainting and preventive Dynax applied.  The whole car had new paintwork applied and new bumpers fitted in entirety front  & rear.
