 Listed with The SLSHOP is a 1988 Mercedes-Benz R107 300SL which has been meticulously kept in its original, low-mileage state. Known to us, this Signal Red example was bestowed with multiple accolades including the 2021 Gaydon Masterclass Concours, following the current keeper’s herculean efforts in bringing the already highly original car back to the exact condition that it’d have left the factory in. Truly straight out of a time capsule, it presents the chance for its new owners to step back in time and enjoy a beautiful late-model RHD R107 300SL. 

 Sold to its present keeper by us in 2017, this R107 has been known to The SLSHOP and comes with a well-detailed history file. Furthering its originality would be the still-packed items like the first-aid kit and floor mats. And while it’s so clean it’d be difficult for anyone to cast a doubt on the car’s condition, but one look at the gallery below and you’d be able to witness the astounding work Barry and his wife Jackie have put in. 

Condition Synopsis:

Impeccable would be the right word to describe the E845 CPA but also period correct and as original as humanely possible — you can read about the last bit in the history section below.  in. This 300SL has just 26165 miles on the clock, and nearly each nook and corner of the car has been taken care of to ensure that it's in the same way as it must've been more than three decades ago. Even the black wax oil from the bottom has been meticulously cleaned!   If 'time capsule' is the word that comes to your mind, we can confirm that you wouldn’t be incorrect. With low mileage and understandably limited use in the past, the interior was already great when the Sidwells bought the car in 2017 — and that remains the case now, too. 

History File:

This 1988 Mercedes-Benz R107 300SL had been sparingly used, covering just 24,000 miles in its nearly three decades, when the current owner bought it from us in 2017, a year after spotting it at The SLSHOP's stand at NEC in 2016. Its then new keepers, well-known among the restoration circle, Barry and Jackie Sidwell then aimed to get the car top honours, preserving originality down to each nut and bolt. From taking the wax oil off the car's bottom, refurbing and/or making cosmetic changes, and even getting the paint on the brake callipers right, the duo did everything to make this R107 right. The hard work paid off in the form of multiple accolades including the 2021 Gaydon Masterclass.
