1992 Mercedes-Benz R129 300SL

This stunning low mileage (less than 59000 miles) 1st Generation R129 300SL (M103) is in amazing condition for its age. Its Black Pearl Metallic (199) exterior complemented by Its blissful Pebble Nappa Leather (275A) and Burled Walnut interior.

This R129 was originally specified with the 16″ ‘8 hole’ alloy wheel however, in my opinion, the replacement unmarked 18” aftermarket alloy wheels better suit the car and fill the wheel arches perfectly. The black (740) hood is in fair condition but could do with replacement in the future and the engine bay is clean with all factory markings visible.

The R129 was extremely advanced for its time with this example ticking all the boxes when it comes to driver aids including cruise control, electrically adjustable steering wheel, seats and mirrors, as well as the Acceleration Skid Control and Electronically-Adjustable Adaptive Dampers.

Recently this 300SL has undergone extensive work at the SLShops Modern Classics Workshop (one of the best in the business). The team has inspected this R129 and addressed any major electrical and mechanical issues, ensuring that there are no faults with any of the complex systems. In addition, routine work has been carried out by Bedford Mercedes and Mercedes at Mercedes World, Brooklands, Weybridge. On top of this a small amount of paint chips were invisibly removed (primarily on the hard top). Overall, in excess of £12,000 has been spent in the last 12 months getting this R129 as good as it is. There a small number of age related marks and areas highlighted in the report which can addressed at some point but they should not detract from the joy of owning, and driving, such a delightful car.

The car has had 4 previous owners with the latest having owned it since 1995 (27 years)! There are regular servicing records (including a stamped service book with a number of main dealer stamps) and invoices, MOT's (a complete set dating back to 1995 varifying the mileage) and tax records dating back many years and, as such, must be viewed in person.
