1987 Mercedes R107 300SL

Registered 1st August 1987, this is the last generation of the R107 300SL with the straight six 3 litre engine coupled to an auto box. It benefits from technical upgrades and from galvanised body panels. The car provides enthusiastic performance combined with modest economy whilst giving a feeling of driving in safe and comfortable style.

In my opinion the car is in excellent condition both bodily and mechanically. I have always garaged the car and it has been used purely for pleasure. It has been professionally maintained and has a FSH. It has just been serviced and MOT’d. Last year on service at my insistence 4 new premium tyres were fitted, all oils were changed, new plugs and a viscous fan were fitted. In 2016 I spent approx £10k on bodywork refurbishment mainly to the front subframe area. The engine was obviously removed and a number of new parts were fitted before it was replaced. The bulkhead unlike so many others was not touched, as it seemed in good order. Frustratingly the money spent is not seen from above, but from underneath the car is in as good condition as one could expect to find. All bills have been retained in a history file along with a photographic record. The car is all original to its specifications, and comes with a “Pagoda” style hardtop complete with stand.  

I have owned the car for 8 years and it was purchased privately after a considerable search to find one that met my criteria. It has taken us off on holiday breaks in the UK, given us days out, carried younger family members to their Prom, and participated in local car shows. It is often remembered by admirers as the car driven by Bobby Ewing in the Dallas TV series, if only it was that exact one I think I could expect to put a higher price on it, we can all dream. This car has never let me down and I know it will give someone else an opportunity to create their own fond memories.
