Exceptional Restoration Exclusively for SLSHOP with Matching Numbers

Part of an exclusive collection of Pagodas restored by SLSHOP, this 280SL comes fresh out of the halls of luxury having been precisely and patiently restored over the course of 18 months. Following a complete rebuild and exterior/interior colour re-configuration, this 280SL has recently undergone rigorous testing on our ramps and on the road. Our craftsmen have setup the mechanicals and suspension to exacting standards, leaving no element untouched to ensure the new owner’s experience is unmatched.

ABOUT THIS 280 SL:

Manufactured in 1969 in Western Germany, this 280SL left the factory in ‘Weiss’ or White (050), with a Black MB Tex (131) interior finish and a Black (040) Hard Top. Throughout it’s life the vehicle past through different owners, with approximately eight different owners enjoying the Pagoda up until present day. In the custody of both the fourth and fifth owners, this Pagoda did undergo some restoration work as detailed in the history file with a change to the interior to Red. Upon inspection by our craftsmen, it was evident that the company used by Mercedes-Benz to carry out repairs, had pop-rivetted a new boot floor and floor pans. This poor execution in the 1990s was the main precursor for a full restoration by SLSHOP. With that being said, no expense was spared during the 1980s and 90s, with the owner investing thousands of pounds into maintenance, engine rebuilds and more.

THE NEW CONFIGURATION:

Following the complete rebuild of the bodywork by our craftsmen, the exterior was repainted in the factory correct colourway of Anthracite Grey Metallic (172); with the stamped bonnet retained with the matching correct numbers. Inside, the entire cabin has been trimmed in the vibrant and period correct Bamboo Leather (249) with matching carpet, neatly contrasting the more subtle Anthracite Grey exterior.

INSIDE:

All seats have been replaced with new frames and inserts, giving them a firm but yielding quality, ready for the new owner to make their mark. All the chrome work has been refurbished and refitted to give the glistening finish expected of a luxury sixties grand tourer. The dials are in perfect condition with no scratches to the casing and functioning better than new. Similarly, the original Ivory Steering wheel feels beautiful when commanding the Pagoda, and matches the lighter cream sun visors utilised for this restoration. A new mohair Black (740) soft top has been fitted, which has been carefully worn in by SLSHOP to ensure easy stowage and fixing. As with all SLSHOP Pagodas, the vehicle comes with a complete tool roll and spare wheel ready for use.

PAGODA SETUP:

 A key element to Pagoda ownership is enjoyment. Like all vehicles restored by SLSHOP, this Pagoda has gone through our Pagoda setup program, with our craftsmen ensuring the fuel pressures and injection systems are optimised for on the button starts in all temperatures. Similarly, the ride has been adjusted to give the refined grand tourer glide, but with a firmness that enables spirited cornering when desired. We can attest that the throttle feels sharp and responsive, giving you complete control to make the stainless steel exhaust howl on cue.

This Pagoda is the one of very few of this calibre, reimagined to standards better than those achievable in 1969. We invite interested enthusiasts for test drives and the chance to review the extensive history folder dating back 37 years accompanying the vehicle.
