About This Car
1964 Mercedes-Benz W113 230 SL Pagoda
Papyrus White with Dark Blue Leather
Road Tax Exempt. ULEZ Exempt.*
This sublime early Pagoda simply has to be seen.
1964 was the second year of the Mercedes-Benz W113 SL, with just under 7,000 cars built. By the end of 1964, a total of 8,276 ‘Pagodas’ had been produced, of which this car was number 3,529, built in the first quarter of 1964.
Presented in what can only be described as ‘concours’ condition, this car is superb inside, outside and underneath.
It was subject to a comprehensive restoration in 2012, detailed by receipts on file totalling more than £80,000. This involved a complete stripdown of the car to it’s component parts, whereupon it was sandblasted and fully professionally repaired before being painstakingly re-assembled.
Resurrected to the original factory specification of Papyrus White with contrasting Blue Interior, this Pagoda presents in the way one might expect a brand new car to appear. The interior is all new, carefully matched to the original specification as it would have presented in 1964. We strongly advise prospective buyers to book an appointment and see this car in the flesh – you will not be disappointed.
Being an early car, it has the added bonus of the vertically mounted rear wheel well, meaning extra boot space for touring. Pre September 1964 cars had a vertically mounted spare wheel that recessed into the spare wheel well on the left hand side of the boot. After September 1964 Mercedes-Benz did away with the wheel well, instead lying the spare wheel horizontally across the boot.
*(All vehicles built on or before 1979 are exempt from road tax, on a one year rolling basis, assuming no further changes to this in forthcoming budgets)
Comprehensive restoration, including a complete strip and sandblast of the body.
All new interior.
Over £80,000 in reciepts on file.
