MERCEDES-BENZ R107 300SL HIRE
The Sweetest Six
If you’re searching for elegant looks and sprightly dynamics, the six-cylinder R107 300SL is the car for you.
Born in 1987, our 300SL classic hire star makes a brilliant companion for weekend trips away. It’s also right at home serving on special occasions including weddings, thanks to its spacious interior and classy appearance, as many of our clients have discovered.
Thinking of buying your own R107 SL? Then why not hire one of ours for a day, weekend or longer to see if this iconic classic fits in with your life?
This roadster has all the glitz, delicacy and reliability you expect from a classic Mercedes, with the added benefit of being professionally prepared by SLSHOP.
Some would argue the six-cylinder 300SL is the spiritual successor to the 280SL Pagoda, which also featured a straight-six engine and takes pride of place in our hire fleet. But whichever way you look at it, the 300SL is a dream car, the white paintwork emphasising its pure and attractive form, and keeping you that bit cooler when the sun is shining.
Boasting a lighter and more nimble drive than the V8 models, the 300SL is nevertheless an excellent motorway cruiser. Its engine brims with old school charm as it races through its rev range, and emits a delicious purring sound on part throttle.
Our car is equipped with a four-speed automatic gearbox, leaving the driver little to do other than enjoy the ride. The check seat upholstery is in superb condition and transports you right back to the 1980s. The fabric roof hides discreetly behind the rear jump seats, and when in place it provides all the comfort and insulation you could wish for.
The 300SL was manufactured from late 1985 onwards, so benefits from a more modern engine design and improved handling, leaving you little excuse for not borrowing the keys and experiencing your own adventure.
