SLSHOP Club Members are entitled to a free of charge 10-point Health Check for their SL, intended to help you better understand the key areas of your car. This crucial three-part check is a great opportunity to understand your SL in more detail, better preparing you for a life on the road with your Classic Mercedes-Benz.
At SLSHOP we have seen more Mercedes-Benz R107 SLs than most, with more than 3,000 cars passing through our workshops in the last 13 years. The experience we have gathered in our time spent with these fantastic cars makes SLSHOP the only place to properly assess your SL, providing expert knowledge from our highly qualified technicians.
The Club Members Health Check will provide you with a report on the condition of your SL, without going so far as the full five-hour inspection that our well known 300-point Full Health Check requires.
Whilst you enjoy a hot drink in our showroom, our experts will begin the three part process.
The all important road test, where our experts will see just how your SL drives and handles – and how it can be improved.
- In the workshop…
- On the ramp…
- Under the bonnet…
- a complete check.
Starting on the road, the technician will give your car a brief test drive. This is an excellent opportunity for us to really understand your car – after 10 years of restoring, building and driving the finest R107 SLs in the world, our craftsmen have a sixth sense for the foibles of the R107. We know exactly how a car should feel, from the way the handbrake disengages to the exact noises that an engine should make on shutdown, the way a door closes and everything that happens in between. You may have driven many SLs, or perhaps this is your first – the opinion of a qualified technician with a great deal of experience of hundreds of SLs is invaluable.
Following the test drive your car will visit the workshop, where the same technician will continue the inspection. On the ramp we’ll be looking for any leaking, faulty or failing components, paying close attention to the breathing, lubrication, cooling, braking and charging systems, as well as checking fluid levels. We’ll talk you through any corrosion, and discuss what would normally be expected considering the age and miles of the car.
With the car back on the ground we can then take a look at the operation of the moving parts, including the roof, windows and seals – important components for a convertible roadster.
Once the three part inspection is complete, a member of our front of house team will sit down with you to discuss the findings.
Sit down with our team to discuss your car, your plans and the bright future of you and your SL.
The ClubHouse Health Check is designed to report on the overall health and safety of your vehicle. What happens next will vary depending on the owner of the car. Sometimes the SL will come back to SLSHOP for our more detailed 300 Point Health Check, or to have other work highlighted by the ClubHouse Health Check rectified. You may wish to use this as a springboard to improving your SL, or just to take it home safe in the knowledge that your car SL is exactly the car you thought it was.
Our customers find the ClubHouse Health Check a very helpful tool, and the time spent with our staff proves invaluable to making the most out of owning an SL. We want you to enjoy your car, and for many, building confidence in a classic Mercedes-Benz starts with the SLSHOP Owners Club.
