Here at the SLSHOP we love nothing more than a bit of variety, and it’s not just the showroom that’s full of Mercedes-Benz Pagoda models. For this article we wanted to show you the range of colours currently inhabiting our 1960s workshops. This building hosts Pagodas, 190SLs and occasionally other greats from the Mercedes-Benz back catalogue. At the time of writing, we had no less than 10 Pagodas in the building, each with it’s own unique story. 9 of these cars are shown, including 6x 280SLs and 2x 250SLs, with two of these 9 cars being rare California models. A diverse selection of cars, not just from all around the country but all over the world.
Is it about time your Pagoda came to SLSHOP for a Health Check? Could it drive better, feel better, look better?
Contact our team to discuss the next steps with your Mercedes-Benz Pagoda.

Top Row:
On the top left we have a 280SL that’s with us for some mechanical fettling. This car came to us all the way from Malta, and has undergone an engine and suspension rebuild by our technicians. It should arrive back on Malta as one of the very best driving Pagodas on the island. In the middle top row we have a 280SL that’s currently being rebuilt following an extensive restoration. We can’t reveal more yet, but this is on superb looking Pagoda. On the top right we have a rare Light Blue 280SL that’s with us for a health check.
Middle Row:
Starting on the top left we have this absolutely delightful Burgundy Red, coming to us all the way from Scotland. With the contrasting tan interior, we can’t wait to show you this car once it’s complete… This already interesting car is also undergoing a very exciting transformation, let’s see how it drives with a GETRAG BMW 6 speed manual gearbox. Right in the centre there’s a rare 280SL California, another that that’s in the build up phase after extensive restorative works. On the right hand side of the middle row we have a Left Hand Drive 280SL with manual gearbox and red leather. This car is with us all the way from the Czech Republic, driven here by the owner for some maintenance and improvements.
Bottom Row:
On the left we have another 250SL California model. These California models are rare in the UK – they have no soft top, hence the name California. This car is also being prepared for the showroom. In the middle on the bottom row we have a very unusual 280SL, as it’s a rally car, complete with HERO stickers on the windows – evidence of events completed. It’s just had a full engine out engine bay repaint. Finally on the bottom right hand side we have a 190SL, a car that’s been with us for extensive mechanical work and a full engine rebuild. Once this car is finished, it should drive like no other.
